SMC Global has stepped up its presence in the Middle East & Africa region with a new distribution facility in the Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone (JAFZA) to meet the growing market demand.

As the first of its kind in the region, the new facility will provide strategic warehousing and distribution services mainly for specialty oilfield biocides tetrakis-hydroxymethylphosphonium sulfate (THPS) and glutaraldehyde which are used in the oil and gas industry. In addition, due to its strategic location, SMC Global is positioning the new facility as a supporting international distribution hub for the West African and South American markets as opposed to relying entirely on its European hub for shipments.

“We look forward to serve and build on our existing customer base in the MEA region, especially in the Gulf. The new opening will not only bring longer term stability to our customer’s cost structure, but also improvements to their cash flow by minimizing their working capital requirements,” explained Amru Abbas, MEA Business Manager at SMC Global. “It will also facilitate access to highly sought-after products with significantly reduced lead times (days vs. weeks).”

The opening of the new facility reflects SMC’s Global commitment to the region, where it has seen a considerable increase in demand in the last 2 years and represents a significant investment in the company’s confidence in the market for oilfield biocides.

Christoph Mielke the company’s International Managing Director commented “JAFZA is ideally located for the business solution we are implementing. By strengthening our presence in the region, we are showing our commitment to better serve our customers with advanced support and meet growing market demand.
