SMC Global is proud to support Petersburg Primary School in Pageland, South Carolina and its ongoing commitment to early childhood education. On Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, Heath Brewer, SMC’s Senior Site Manager for South Carolina and Kansas, had the privilege of presenting the school with a $250 donation and a box of 1,000 pencils. Carolina Humanik, the esteemed Petersburg 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year, graciously accepted the donation on behalf of the school.

Petersburg Primary is home to 425 students from PK4 to 2nd Grade, with 80% of students economically disadvantaged. Competition for skilled teachers with talent and innovation, long-standing education gaps, low high school graduation rates, and the impending retirement of 77 million baby boomers place tremendous workforce challenges nationwide.
