This month, we are delighted to introduce Matt Milman. Matt began his SMC journey back in the fall of 2018 as an analyst. His role now encompasses more responsibilities as SMC’s Inventory + Supply Chain Manager at our NYC Office Headquarters.
THE INTERVIEW
Q: How has your job evolved since you started working here?
Matt: I started at SMC as an analyst. Along with a co-worker, we split the planning duties amongst each other depending on the product line. I currently oversee the Planning Department and now have two analysts who report to me. I am involved in more high-level macro-focused initiatives than when I started working here.

Q: Favorite part about your job?
Matt: I enjoy solving problems and helping out fellow SMC employees with projects, which in turn contributes to companywide success.
Q: What does your daily routine look like?
Matt: My daily routine generally revolves around planning meetings and reports, but my routine often changes (very suddenly) as challenges in the business arise and need my attention. I know I always must be ready for any scenario.
Q: One thing you can’t live without?
Matt: My 3 computer monitors for work because there is no way I can do all my reports with just 1 monitor!
Q: What’s unique about working for our organization?
Matt: Working for SMC is unique, because we all wear a lot of different hats and are not confined to one area of the company. On any given day, my job can be Planning, Logistics, Finance, Warehouse Operations, Commercial Business, etc.
Q: Before working here- what was your most unusual job?
Matt: My most unusual job was a Collections Agent. It was my first job after graduating college and I wanted to gain experience in the corporate world. Needless to say, I dealt with some very unhappy individuals on a day-to-day basis. I soon realized that it was not the job for me!
When Matt is not in meetings or in the office, you’ll find him relaxing at home watching his favorite shows. He loves a little of everything- dramas, comedies, reality shows, sports and more! Thanks Matt for letting us get to know you better!
